What Is Lion

The lion (Panthera leo) is a carnivorous mammal of the Felidae family of genus Panthera (cats). He is nicknamed "the king of beasts" because its mane makes it look like the Sun, which appears as the "king of the stars." The adult male, easily recognizable by his mane important, shows a mass medium which may vary according to geographical areas where it is, from 174.9 kg for the lions of Kruger to 217 kg for the Transvaal lions.
